A judge has denied bail to Sean “Diddy” Combs, meaning the hip hop star will remain in custody while awaiting sentencing for his sex crimes case.
The bail decision follows the jury’s verdict, which found Combs guilty of federal offenses related to prostitution but acquitted him on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
Combs, 55, has been incarcerated since his arrest in September.
The Grammy winner was convicted on two counts of transporting individuals for the purpose of prostitution, each carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment.
However, the jury’s decision to clear him of the more serious charges means he avoids a potential life sentence.
His legal team had argued that the acquittals on the trafficking and racketeering counts constituted a significant change in circumstances, justifying his release on a $1 million bond.
Prosecutors countered that he continues to pose a flight risk.
