Inch Wildfowl Reserve was filled with joy and learning as over 200 attendees participated in the Wild Day Out at Inch. This cross-border event, part of Cruinniú na nÓg on Saturday, June 7th, celebrated both biodiversity and imagination.

The event was organized by the Biodiversity without Borders project with the support of Creative Ireland. Donegal County Council led the initiative as part of a Shared Island programme for Cruinniú na nÓg, in partnership with Derry City and Strabane District Council.

Families explored the diverse ecosystem of Inch Wildfowl Reserve with guidance from nature experts and council biodiversity officers. The pleasant weather further enhanced the day’s activities.

Participants of all ages enjoyed birdwatching sessions led by Aengus Kennedy from Nature North West, discovered fish and water bugs with Frog CIC, and identified wildflowers and bugs with Annie Mullan from Butterlope Farm.

A highlight of the day was the biodiversity trail, which formed part of the 8km loop. The first 30 families to complete the trail received wild prizes and free goody bags.

The Wild Day Out was part of Cruinniú na nÓg, Ireland’s national day dedicated to free creative activities for children and young people. It was locally organized by Donegal County Council’s Culture & Creativity team, with support from the Donegal Youth Council.
