Inis Saimer, a unique private island near Ballyshannon, is going to auction.

This residential island offers complete privacy, nestled in the Erne Estuary.

The three-bedroom home, situated off Mall Quay, is accessible year-round via a distinctive floating jetty.

Notably, Inis Saimer was once owned by Thomas Connolly, the Speaker of the first Irish House of Parliament and, at the time, the wealthiest man in Ireland.

The island provides a tranquil and secluded retreat, yet is only a short boat ride away: one minute from Ballyshannon’s Mall Quay and just six minutes from the town center’s shops and restaurants.

The house, dating back to the 1800s, features a generously sized open-plan living area encompassing the kitchen, dining room, and lounge.

The 19th-century property boasts stunning views from its expansive balcony and decking, overlooking the Erne River, Mall Quay, and Ballyshannon. From the function room’s bay window, you can see the Erne Estuary, the Finner dunes, and Donegal Bay.

According to the selling agent, the island offers complete privacy and a serene atmosphere. The Erne River surrounds it, teeming with wildlife such as otters, seals, ducks, herons, cormorants, and seatrout and salmon visible from the house’s windows and terrace.
