EirGrid is urging GAA fans in Donegal to nominate an outstanding volunteer who has significantly contributed to their local club and community as part of their new ‘Community Heroes’ campaign.
This campaign will travel across Ireland, celebrating the invaluable contributions of dedicated individuals. A nationwide competition will also highlight Ireland’s most committed volunteers. The winning volunteer will receive a pair of tickets to the All-Ireland Final, along with a €5,000 donation to support their club’s development.
This recognition of volunteers’ dedication aligns with EirGrid’s ten-year anniversary as the GAA’s official timing partner, a partnership that now includes the All-Ireland Football, Hurling, and Camogie Championships.
As the operator and developer of the electricity grid, EirGrid is committed to modernizing the power system for communities in Donegal and throughout the North West. The grid supplies power to homes, communities, and businesses, thereby supporting jobs, economic growth, and regional development.
Connell McLoone, EirGrid’s Community Liaison Officer for the North West, stated: “As we work towards strengthening the electricity grid in Donegal and the broader North West region, EirGrid is dedicated to ensuring that local communities’ perspectives are valued and that the benefits extend across the entire region.
“Our Community Heroes campaign, as well as our role as the GAA’s timing partner, underscores our deep-seated commitment to community engagement and sustainability.”
“I encourage everyone to participate in the campaign and acknowledge the exceptional dedication of volunteers to their clubs throughout the county.”
