Callum Devine has extended his lead in the 2025 Donegal International Rally after two of his main rivals encountered problems on the final stages of the day.
Following a day of intense competition, William Creighton had significantly reduced Devine’s advantage, trailing by just 4.9 seconds after Stage 12, the first pass through Knockalla and Garrygort.
European Champion Hayden Paddon remained a strong contender in third position until a dramatic roll on Stage 13, the second run through Knockalla, forced his retirement from the rally.
Although his Hyundai i20 R2 was still drivable after the incident, he opted to return to service in Letterkenny without recording a time for Stage 13.
On the final stage of the day, William Creighton’s challenge faltered when he went off the road during the second pass through Garrygort.
Creighton lost almost seven minutes due to the incident but managed to complete the stage and return his Toyota Yaris R2 to Parc Fermé in Letterkenny, allowing him to remain in the rally.
This leaves Callum Devine with a 20-second lead heading into the final day. The weather conditions could play a significant role as crews have been pushing hard in favorable conditions so far this weekend.
Meirion Evans, representing Wales, now sits in second place, 21 seconds behind Devine, and appears poised to at least match his runner-up finish from Donegal 12 months ago, barring any setbacks on Sunday’s stages.
Donegal’s own David Kelly has climbed to an impressive third position in his VW Polo following the issues for Paddon and Creighton, a minute and two seconds adrift of the lead, and only three seconds ahead of fourth-placed Josh Moffett.
Here is the schedule for Sunday’s stages, as the 2025 Donegal International Rally concludes on some of its most iconic Inishowen roads:
