Callum Devine is off to a strong start in his bid for a third consecutive Donegal International Rally victory, leading at the Day 1 halfway point.

Live timing indicates he holds a provisional 7.1-second advantage over Welsh driver Meirion Evans after the initial three stages.

Devine secured wins on two of today’s first three stages, sharing the fastest time with Jon Armstrong on Stage 1 at Malin Head before claiming Stage 3 at Coolcross by a narrow half-second margin.

The Derry native’s consistent driving has allowed him to establish a lead within a competitive Rally 2 field.

Armstrong, from Fermanagh, triumphed on Stage 2 in his Ford Fiesta R2, but encountered mechanical issues on the third stage, causing him to plummet to ninth overall, losing just over 30 seconds.

This setback propelled Evans into second position, mirroring his finish in last year’s Donegal Rally.

William Creighton, a former Junior WRC Champion driving a Toyota Yaris, currently occupies third place, trailing Devine by 10 seconds.

Josh Moffett is holding an impressive fourth position in his Hyundai i20 R2, closely followed by Haydon Padden in fifth.

Padden, the New Zealander and reigning European Rally Champion, is experiencing Donegal’s stages for the first time and will be pleased to be within 12.7 seconds of the leader before the afternoon loop.

Here’s a look at the schedule for the remaining three stages today:

    Malin Head 2 (SS4): 14:25pm

    Mamore Gap 2 (SS 5): 15:30pm

    Coolcross 2 (SS 6): 16:15pm
