The Four Masters GAA Club in Coventry is marking its 70th anniversary this year with a series of celebrations, including a trip to Donegal next week.

Founded in 1955 by Donegal Town natives PJ Burke and Patsy Meehan, the club was named in homage to their home club.

The club quickly became a cornerstone of the Irish community in Coventry. For decades, it has served as a second home for players and supporters alike, proudly promoting the sport of Gaelic football.

As part of their 70th-year celebrations, over 25 club members, including Sharon Dixon, daughter of founding member Patsy Meehan, will be returning to Donegal Town on the weekend of June 27th.

“We’re really looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces and would love to see any former members while we’re there,” a club spokesperson told Donegal Daily.

A 70th Anniversary Dinner Dance will be held later in the year on November 8th at The Butts Arena, Coventry. The event promises to be a memorable evening celebrating the club’s history, present, and future.

To commemorate the anniversary online, the club has also launched a social media campaign, sharing ‘a photo a day’ to highlight the people and moments that have defined the club over the last 70 years.

“If you have any old photos or stories to share, or if you’re interested in attending the dinner dance, please get in touch”.
