A 40-year-old man from Donegal has been deported from the United States and returned to Ireland due to a visa waiver violation.
The man, whose identity has not been released, was apprehended by US immigration authorities for overstaying his permitted time on a travel visa.
According to TheJournal.ie, the individual arrived at Dublin Airport from Boston this past Friday.
His initial detention occurred after a driving-related conviction, leading to his transfer to a detention facility managed by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The deported man is reportedly the father of two American-born children, ages 9 and 10, and had established a successful construction business in the Boston area. He had been on the waiting list for a green card application for three years.
