Donegal’s TDs are scheduled to meet with Health Minister Jennifer Carroll MacNeil today to discuss the proposed surgical hub for the North West region.
The meeting comes after the confirmation that Sligo University Hospital is the preferred location for the facility, rather than Letterkenny University Hospital.
Last week, the HSE’s confirmation raised serious concerns that Letterkenny University Hospital could face a downgrade as a consequence.
Donegal TDs will use today’s meeting with the Health Minister to express their anxieties and advocate for Letterkenny.
The meeting follows a request from over 170 GPs in Donegal who called for a discussion on the matter.
Deputy Pat the Cope Gallagher confirmed to Donegal Daily that the meeting is scheduled for later today.
