Mark English from Letterkenny has etched his name in Irish athletics history by becoming the first Irishman to run the 800m in under 1:44. He shattered his previous national record, which he set just 11 days prior.

The Finn Valley AC star clocked an impressive 1:43.92 at the FBK Games held in the Netherlands tonight.

Previously, on May 30th, he ran a record-breaking 1:44.34 at the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

This victory showcases English’s exceptional form, and he’s set to compete again on Thursday night at the Oslo Diamond League.
