The Labour Party representative for Donegal has announced his support for Catherine Connolly’s presidential campaign, aligning with the party’s decision.
Michael Mc Laughlin, the local Labour representative, stated that the party’s endorsement of the Galway-based Independent TD reflects the desires of its membership.
“This decision is driven by our members and grounded in our dedication to equality and democratic principles,” Mc Laughlin explained.
“Labour prioritized consulting its grassroots members, and their message was straightforward: they wish to see Catherine Connolly championed as a robust and principled contender for the presidency.”
“Catherine embodies the core values of public service, including compassion, fairness, and independence, qualities exemplified by Michael D. Higgins. I am pleased that Labour has listened to its members and is now supporting her bid. I anticipate discussing with local voters why she is the ideal candidate for Ireland,” he concluded.
