Mark English has secured his spot in the 800m final at the National Track and Field Championships with ease.

He convincingly won his heat held today at Morton Stadium in Dublin.

English comfortably finished first, winning by more than two seconds with a time of 1:48.92. This is faster than the requirement but still short of his personal best and national record of 1:43.92, achieved earlier this year.

He will compete for the National title tomorrow evening, as part of his preparation for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo next month.
