Gortnacart National School in Ardara celebrated a significant achievement just before the summer break: the awarding of their third Active School Flag.

This award recognizes the school’s ongoing dedication to promoting physical activity and overall well-being for all its students.

This accomplishment is especially significant for a school of its size. The Active School Committee, led by Active School Coordinator Christine Breslin and Principal Connell Herron, diligently ensured the fulfillment of all program requirements throughout the year. The visiting accreditor highly commended their comprehensive approach and commitment to integrating physical activity into daily school life.

Frank McGuinness raises the latest Active Flag at Gortnacart NS.

Adding to the festivities, the school proudly unveiled new sports kits, generously sponsored by Frank McGuinness. His support has significantly enhanced the students’ sporting opportunities. Frank had the honor of raising the Active Flag, marking a moment of immense pride for the entire school community.

Gortnacart N.S. also recently achieved victory in the Small Schools County Final in rounders—a remarkable sporting success that highlights the talent, teamwork, and dedication of both the pupils and teachers.

The school extends a special thank you to all parents for their continued support throughout the year. Their encouragement and engagement are crucial to the success of all school initiatives, including the Active School programme.

Having earned another Active Flag and secured a county title, the future looks bright for Gortnacart N.S.
