A resident of Downings has voiced concerns about exposed eir cables following a recent service disruption in the area.
Last month, a severed cable during hedge trimming left businesses and homes in Downings without landline and broadband service for a period of two days.

While repairs were completed, a local resident alerted Donegal Daily to their worry that the issue could reoccur, as the replacement cable was left above ground.
“The cables are currently exposed and situated alongside the road. They urgently require burial underground,” the resident stated.
“For over three weeks, these cables have remained unsheltered and vulnerable to damage. Prompt underground placement is essential to prevent future service interruptions.”
The concerned resident, who wished to remain anonymous, reported contacting eir multiple times but did not receive a response.
Donegal Daily’s inquiry to eir regarding this matter has also gone unanswered.
